Regional Investment & Export Prospects: Latin America

16 October 2014

Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, 75 Harborne Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B15 3DH

Venue: Birmingham Chamber of Commerce, 75 Harborne Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham B15 3DH
Date: Thursday 16th October 2014
Time: 12:30-14:30 (Prompt close, 1:1s and informal networking until 16:00)

Latin America economic growth is forecast to be one of the strongest globally, rising from close to 3% in 2015 to an expected 3.6% in 2019. Brazil (growth projected to increase to 3.5% by 2019), Chile (4.5% by 2019) and Colombia (4.6% by 2019) are anticipated to be the key motors of regional growth.

While West Midlands exports to Latin America since 2009 have been strong – 85% by the end of 2013 – overall at less than 2% of West Midlands total exports, the current level of penetration is modest. Thus, there is considerable potential for deepening this relationship, and building on the vibrant growth sustained between 2009 and 2013 – Brazil (export growth 87% during this period), Chile (203%) and Colombia (30%).
