Aston Euro Series - ‘Planes, Trains & Automobiles’ - European Transport Policy

31 January 2014

Aston Centre for Europe, Aston University, Birmingham, B4 7ET Room MB206, Main Building, Second Floor

As the European Parliamentary elections approach, it is a useful opportunity to consider the real impact of EU policy strategies on the West Midlands. For the first in our new Aston Euro series of lunchtime seminars, held in jointly held with the Aston Centre for Europe, we will focus on European Transport Policy. The EC has recently called for proposals to finance transport infrastructure (encompassing air, rail, road, maritime and inland waterways) and has also adopted "Shift2Rail", a new public-private partnership to invest just under €1 billion in research and innovation to get more passengers and freight onto Europe's railways.
